Etymology

v. pōl 'a pool'. The daughter of John Maltravers (who held the manor in 1327) married Sir John Keynes (W 64); the family of Keynes (Kahaines ) also held the nearby manors of Somerford Keynes (83infra ) and Ashton Keynes (W 40).
