Etymology

Grimsbury Fm & Grimsbury Lane, Grymesbure 1327SR (p), Grimsbury 1551 Will, Grimsberrye lane 1652ParlSurv . Probably a fortification or encampment thought to have been built by or to be associated with Grim, which was possibly another name for the god Woden, as in Grimsbury (O 413) or Grim's Ditch (W 15), v. Grīm , grīma 2 'spectre', burh . No earthwork is now visible.
