Etymology

Epney, Eppeneye 1248, 1320Ass , Heppeneye , Hyppeneye 1306 ib, Epney 1616FF , Epnah 1675 Ogilby. 'Eoppa's island', from the OE  pers.n. Eoppa and ēg; Epney is on the Severn bank, but any island there has been obliterated by drainage.
