Etymology

'Farmstead near the Frome', v. R. Frome (1) (i, 7supra ), tūn .In this and other Framptons (i, 137 supra , iii, 116 infra ), the vowel of OE  Frōm was shortened to -ŏ - in the compound and this was treated as OE  -ŏ - before nasals and appears as Fram -, From - and Frum - (cf. Phonol. §§ 6, 28).
