Cornford (lost), Cuerneford Hy 3, Eliz Monast, Corn (e )ford 1314, 1349 Ipm. 'Ford near the mill', v. cweorn , ford , and for the form corn -, which is a not unusual substitution, as in Cornford (Do 35), cf. The Querns (65infra ) and Corndean (ii, 32infra ), Phonol. §§ 20, 42.
