For this name, Elkesley (Nt 78), Elkington (L) and Elkstone (St), Ekwall has suggested the OE pers.n. Ēanlāc , first reduced to Ēalāc .But Ēalāc occurs independently in LVD (cf. Feilitzen, NoB xxxiii, 79). 'Ēalāc's stone', v. stān .
