Etymology

Like Eastleach Martin (31supra ), this is named from the R. Leach. The feudal affix is that of the family of Turville which held land here (Robert de Turevill 1200 Cur, 1221Ass i, 15, Eyre 89, Galiana de Turville 1242 Fees), as it did in Acton Turville (iii, 47infra ). The affix Sci ' Andree refers to the church dedication to St Andrew (S. Andree de Astleach 1349 Heref, St Andrew , Estlecche 1500 Pat). Lecche Cecilie is named from Cecilia de Evereux (1242 Fees).
