Etymology

This name and Eastleach Turville (33infra ) are called 'east' as they lie in the east of the hundred and south-east of Northleach (175infra ). All three are named from the R. Leach (10supra ) on which they stand. The church was dedicated to St Martin (Rudder 432) and now to St Martin and St Michael. The place was alternately called Boutherop (infra ).
