Etymology

'Farmstead associated with Dydda', v. -ing 4 , tūn . On the OE  pers.n. Dyd (d )a cf. Didbrook ii, 9supra . The loss of medial -d - is best explained as due to AN influence, by which OE  -d - first became -d - and was then lost (cf. Zachrisson, ANInfl 90).
