'Cold cottage', probably one offering shelter from the cold or (more probably) a cold, cheerless one, v. cald , cot ; it is a common p.n. and other Gl examples are Coldicote (220, 251), Coldicote (ii, 18) and Calcot (ii, 239infra ).
