Etymology

Tog Hill, to coggan hylle 931 (c. 12th) BCS 670, Tughill 1675 Ogilby, 1777 M, Tog-hill 1779 Rudder. The OE form (from a post-Conquest copy) is probably an error for toggan . 'Togga's hill', from the OE  pers.n. Tocga and hyll .
