Etymology

Inchthrop (lost), Inchesthorpp 1540AOMB , Inchthrop 1540MinAcct .The first el. may be a ME  enche 'manorial tenant' (v. Addenda), v. þrop 'outlying dependent farmstead'. It was near Cecily Hill to the south of the town (cf. Inchthrop Lane 63 supra ).
