Etymology

Lawditch (lost), (la ) Lawdich (e ), Lawdych 1285, 1387, 1388, 1400 RBBr. Probably a compound of ME  lawe 'law' and dīc 'ditch' to denote a ditch marking the limit of some jurisdiction, paralleled by Lawday Ditch in Gloucester (ii, 138supra ).
