Etymology

'Farmstead associated with Balda', from an OE  pers.n. Balda (cf. Mawer, Problems 100), v. ing 4 , tūn . The form Baud - shows AN  vocalisation of -l - (cf. IPN 113, Phonol. § 5). The late contraction of Baudin - to Baun - is to be noted.
