Etymology

'Farmstead associated with Fita', v. -ing 4 , tūn . An OE  pers.n. Fita is not recorded, but Ekwall notes the cognate OG  Fizo . On the voicing of Fit - to Fid - cf. Phonol. § 40 (a ).
