Etymology

This name must remain an unsolved problem. Harrison (106), who was rector of the neighbouring Radwinter, calls the place Gwinbach or Winbeche and took the name to be that of one of the head-waters of the Pant , which he called Gwin or Pant .There is little likelihood that this is anything more than the philological speculation of an antiquary.
