Etymology

Gardenness Point (in Paglesham parish) (6″). Cf. Le Gardin 1236 Fees, Gardyn (e )fee 1375Ct , Gardyn (e )mersh 1451 IpmR, Grapnells otherwyse called Gardens ffee 1578Rental . ME  gardin and næss . Said to have been “sometyme of John att Garden ” (1578Rental ). For Grapnells v. infra .
