Etymology

'Fair open country,' v. sciene , feld . Cf. Shenley (PN Bk 23), (Herts) DB Scenlei and Shelland (Sf)Scenelonde 1326 Ch. Sheningfeud may be a development of the inflexional -an , but is probably an error. The s in S (ch )enesfeld is pseudo-genitival.Caumuyle from the family of Robert de Kaunvill (1263 FF).
