Etymology

Milton (6″) is Mildentunā 1086 DB, Mid (d )elton (a )1155–8 Delisle, 1204 FF, 1248, 1254Ass , 1285 Ch, 1341 NI, Middleton 1313 Ipm, Middleton alias Mylton 1548FF , Milton , Mylton 1342FF et passim , Mylton Shore 1539 Admiralty, Melton Hall 1768 M. 'The middle tun,' situated between Leigh and Southchurch (M i, 296). The name now survives only in Milton Road and House.Milton Hall is now Nazareth Ho, so called because occupied by the Sisters of Nazareth .
