Etymology

'The long hill,' v. dun . The name has been changed through the influence of the neighbouring Laindon. The correct form survives in the name of the hill, Langdon Hill and in Langdonhill Hall (cf. VCH i, 398), and has now been restored on the O.S. (Popular 1″) in place of Laindon (6″).
