Etymology

Blamster's Hall alias Bamster's (1″, 1895) is Eystan Blaumost ', Eyston Blamuster 1285Ass , Blamesteirs 1437 BM, Blamsters 1485, Blowmesters 1500 Ipm, Blomsters (Hall )1504–15 ECP, 1509 LP, Blumsters 1510Recov , Blampsters al. Blompsters 1572 ib., Blansted-hall 1768 M. The manor takes its name from the family of William de Blauminister alias de Blammoster (1280 Ipm), de Albo Monasterio (1285 FF) which came originally from Whitchurch (Sa). Cf.
