Etymology

Boveries (lost) is Bu (u )eries 1199FF , Bu (u )eries vill 1254Ass , 1387Walden , (in ) Bovariis 1200–70 FF, Boveryes (town )1262 ib., Boveryes ex parte aquilonari de Hichenild 1387Walden , Bouuerie 1298 FF, Boverias 1387Walden . Cf. Boverie (PN Nth 274). It is of the same type as Vetchery (PN Sx 350) and Vachery (PN Sr 232) and is derived from OFr  boverie , 'place where oxen are kept.' It was on the north side of Icknield Way.
