Etymology

Ramacre Wood (6″) is Tremacre , le Ramacre , le Remether 13th, Remacre 1384StJohn , Ramacre Wood c. 1840 TA. No certainty is possible, but it would seem that this is for OE  (æt ) þrēom æcerum , 'three acres,' with the same curious dropping of initial t (h ) which we find in Rumbridge (PN Sx 88–9) from earlier (æt ) þrēom beorgum .
