Etymology

'The enclosure of Bubba 's people,' v. ing , worþ . For the development of b to v cf. s. n. Pavenham (PN BedsHu 37) and for -inger cf. Abinger (PN Sr 259). Both Bobbingworth and Bovinger appear on the Popular 1″ O.S. map, the latter as a hamlet, which occurs as Upper Bobbingworth Green on the 6″ O.S. map (1895).
