Shallow Bridge (6″) is Schele (f )ford 1262 FF (p), Schelewford 1297 Ipm, Shellowe brigge 1503 EAS xxi, Shellow Bridge 1777 C.'The ford through the winding stream,' viz. the Roding, which is aptly so called here. v. Shellow Bowells infra 495–6.
