Etymology

'Ægen 's enclosure,' v. worþ . Ægen , which is a pet-form of such names as Ægenbeald , Ægenwulf , etc., is a pers. name which is probably found also in Ainsworth (PN La 53). Cf. Eynsford (PN K 39).(ii) Cheldewell (emede )1361–97Ct , Chaldewell (e )(feld )ib.,
