High Marr, Low Marr (6″) was originally Alemar (e ) (a fishery) 13th Fontfreq , 1218, 1219, 1252 FF. 'Eel pool,' from OScand  ál 'eel' (cf. Auburn supra 87) and OScand  marr or OE  mere (cf. Marton supra 49).
