Etymology

'Farmstead of those living to the east (of Howden),' a geonymic formation from east, compar. ēasterra 'more easterly.' v. ing , tun and cf. Karlström 89. The spelling Aistrin - may have been influenced by OScand  eystri , compar. of aust 'east.'
