Etymology

Bond Burstwick (lost) is Bonde Brustwyk (e ), Bonde Brustwyc 1260Rental , 1339Extent , 1342SR , 1349 Ipm, Bondarruswich (sic)1260 YI, Bond Burstwyk , Bond Burstwick c. 1265 KF, 1578, 1588 FF, Bonbrustwyke 1276 Abbr, Bondbrustwyk (e ), Bondbrustwik 1297 Pat, LS, 1333SR , 1349 Ipm. Bond Burstwick was in Burstwick; it was one of “the appendages of the great lordship of Brustwyck” (Poulson ii, 355) and took its distinctive name from certain bondi (v. bondi ) who held lands here of the king (1297 Pat). These Bondi de Brustwyk also held land in Burton Pidsea infra 55 (1260Rental 730, m. 8).
