Etymology

Mount Ferrant (6″) is terra de Monte 1285 KI, Ruines of Montferrant 1695 Morden, Mount -Farran 1828 Langd. It is the site of the old wooden castle belonging to the Fossards and destroyed c. 1175 (v. YCh ii, 328).
