Etymology

'Bleik's estate', ON  pers.n. Bleikr SPNLY 57, ME  genitive sing. Bleikes , + tūn. Bleikr is an original by-n. 'the pale one' from ON  bleikr 'pale, wan' (SPNLY 57). Blakeston may well have originated as a late grant to a private individual out of the combined Norton-Stockton estate.
