Etymology

'Tīdbeorht's mound', OE  pers.n. Tīdbeorht , genitive sing. Tīdbeorhtes , + hlāw . The site is completely built over by chemical works but this may have been a barrow overlooking the Tees at the extreme edge of the Billingham hill-ridge.
