Etymology

'Raven's valley', v. hremn , cumb , or 'Hremn's valley' from an OE  pers.n. Hremn , cf. Remeswelle infra which was probably near Renscombe. The DB spelling in -o - is probably due to orthographic confusion of o and e . Part of the cliff SSW of Renscombe Fm is known locally as Renscombe Cliff, cf. foll.
