Etymology

'Meadow land, i.e. cultivated land consisting largely of meadow', from winn1 , wynn and land , as suggested by Kökeritz 131. The Anglo-Saxon bounds of Woolland are given in S 277 (v. C. Hart in DoNHAS 86 158–9), and the bounds of Woolland are also described in 1385 (e15) MiltRoll (repeated in 1384 (e16) Prideaux ) when it was included in the manor of Milton Abbas.
