One of several places named from R. Frome (v. RNs.infra ). William Belet held this manor and five others in 1086 DB (VCHDo 3 113, cf. Winterborne Belet in Winterborne Came par. infra ), cf. also Robert Belet 1236 Fees, William Belet 1268Ass ; William Everard died seized of Frome in 1279 Ipm, cf. William Everard 1327SR , William de Euerard 1332 SR, Frome Belet quod Edmundus Everard quondam tenuit 1346 FA. There was a mill here in 1086 DB (VCHDo 3113). According to Hutch3 2 514, Frome Billet 'lies on the south side of the river, half a mile north from Stafford', cf. Frome Dairy, Frome Hill, Stafford Ho infra .
