Etymology

The Fishery (SY 922871), on R. Frome, referred to as 'Elizabeth de Burgo 's free fishery at Wareham '1327 Pat, Salmon Fishery 1774 Map, cf. de piscaria per totam aquam Frome p1483Sheen ; it is often alluded to in conjunction with the fishery to the N of the town on R. Piddle or Trent, as in totam piscarinam duorum cursuum aquar ' vocat ' North and South river , et quod ' stagn ' vocat ' a Weare fixat ' sup ' le South ryver 1542 Hutch3, 'the fishery in the North and South Rivers '1595 ib; for other references to the fisheries at Wareham, v. VCHDo 2320.
