Etymology

Rixon (ST 793144), Hr Rixton Estate, Lr Rixton Estate, Rigarston ', Rygarston 'e14GlastE , (Bottom ) Rixon , Rixon Cl , Rixon Elm , Rixon or Flewletts , Rixon or T Grd 1839TA , 'enclosure for growing rye', from ryge and gærs-tūn; it was near to Mauryesgarston 'e14GlastE for which v. Fiddleford Mill infra. Flewletts may be an error, cf. Hewlett's Drove infra (1½ miles SW).
