Etymology

(Hr) Doghill Coppice (ST 419002), Doghill (Copse )1841TA , cf. the f.ns. Gt Doghill & Lt Doghill 1843ib (Marshwood) which also belong here; probably to be associated with the surname of Geoffrey Dochulle 1327, Geoffrey Dokhull '1332 SR (a taxpayer in Wraxhall par. supra ), thus 'hill where dock is abundant', from OE  docce and hyll , v. Field 64.
