South Down Fm (SY 758821), South Down Fm 1840TA , Suddon 1327SR (p), 1332 SR (p), 1412 FA, 1478 IpmR, 1486 Ipm, Sudden 1340 NI (p), 'farm of Sudden '1645 Hutch3, 1795 Boswell, Syddon 1375 IpmR, Sutton 1648 SC, Sooden Farme 1664 HTax, 'south hill or down', v. sūð , dūn ; it lies about two miles S of Owermoigne on the S slope of a hill ridge; Hutch3 1 459 has a heading Sudden but notes that 'it is now… always called South Down Farm'.
