Etymology

Mythe Ctgs(SY 505987), Mythe Cottages 1837TA , Methe 1423 Pat, hamlet called La Mythe 1774 Hutch1, Mythe 1811 OS, from (ge)mȳðe 'a confluence of streams', with reference to the meeting of two streams here, cf. Meath Mill 1589, 1642Brid , Meath Myll 1614Brid , Mill Ctg & Mill Grd 1837TA (note the mention of a mill at Malperetone , the larger of the two DB manors, in 1086 (VCHDo 394).
