Etymology

'Farm called after Lylla', from an OE  pers.n. Lylla (a side-form of the recorded Lulla and suggested by DEPN for Leybourne K and Lilstock So) and -ingtūn , with neoðerra , niðerra 'lower' and uferra 'higher, upper' (an early division of the manor perhaps reflected in the names Higher St., Lower St. and Upper Fm infra ).
