Two fords are marked 6″, but the most important crossing of R. Hooke is at Hooke Bridge infra . According to Hutch1 1 293, Stapleford 'is supposed to have been the ancient village, now depopulated. But it seems rather to have been a distinct parish, long since included in Hooke'.
