Etymology

Woodbury Coppice (SY 897852), Woodbury Hill 1841TA , Wodebury 1323MinAcct , 'fortified place at the wood', v. wudu , burh (dat.sg. byrig ); there is apparently no evidence for an ancient site here, cf. Woodbury in Bere R. par. infra .
