Wulfa is a short form of dithematic pers.ns. in Wulf -, and in fact some of the early spellings (Wuluui - (? for Wuluiu - or Wuluin -), Woluenes -, Wlfre -, Wolver -) look like reduced forms of such dithematic names (Wulfgifu and Wulfwynn (both fem.), Wulfwine and Wulf here (both masc.)).
