Etymology

'Brian's estate', v. tūn , named from Brian de Insula who held this manor early in the reign of Hy 3 (B. de Insula 1232 Cl, Brianus de Insula de Blaneford 1232 Pat, v. Hutch3 1248) and who also gave his name to Bradford Brian , now Bradford Fm in Pamphill par. infra . For the possible identification of one of the DB manors called Blaneford with Bryanston, v. Blandford F. par. supra .
