Damory Court (lost, about ST 888064), Damory Court 1774 Hutch1, 'the manor called Damemarieplace of Chepyngblaneford '1363 Pat, Dame Mary Place de Chepyngblaneford , Dame Marie Place de Chepyngblaneford 1363 Inq aqd, Orig, the Daumarye Courte 1591DLMB , Damerie Court next Blandford , Damery Court next Blandford 1616 DoIpm, Damory-house 1774 Hutch1, formerly considered (by Coker cited in Hutch3 1 222 and by Hutch1 1 80) to have been named from a family called Damory , but as pointed out by Fägersten 51 probably an allusion to the possession of this manor by the abbey of St Mary, Fontevrault (v. Hutch3 1222, 1189 France p. 384, 1363 Inq aqd p. 334), v. place , court . Hutch1 1 80 adds: 'A little N of this house was a remarkable oak, called Damory Oak '. Cf.
