Etymology

Cf. the par. name supra . The affixes are manorial. William Bevin occurs in connection with Candel in 1235–6 Fees (p. 426), cf. also Richard Beyuyn 1280Ass , Agnes Beuyn (g )1300, 1301 Banco (Drew). Ralph Wake was here in 1290 Ch, cf. also John (de ) Wake 1327SR , 1332 SR, 1348 Ipm, 1405 Cl, and v. Wake Court infra ; the same family gives its name to Stoke Wake par. supra . Since there are no alias forms, Caundel Beyvin may have been a separate holding within the manor.
