Upwey
Parish in the County of Dorset
Etymology
Elwell was in the liberty of Wyke Regis & Elwell, and part of Upwey formed the separate liberty of Wabyhouse, v. note under Culliford Tree hundred supra . In 1933 part of Upwey was transferred to the borough of Weymouth, part to the par. of Bincombe, and the rest to the par. of Chickerell for civil purposes (Kelly).
