Etymology

The first element points to OE  loddere , 'beggar,' which may have given rise to a contemptuous farm-name. Cf. to loddera beorge BCS 981, Lattiford (So), Lodreford DB, Loderford 1242 Ass, 1303 FA, Lotherford 1226 FF (p) and Doggaport supra 95.
