Etymology

v. Creedy river supra 4, the first phrase describing a yard or virga of land on that river. In 1242 (Fees) one manor was held by Robert le Peytevin (i.e. of Poitou) and the other, probably the later Upton supra , by William de Helihun , a Breton name. The former manor had passed to the Wiger family by 1282 (Ch).
